2 Days Ruaha National Park

Safari Overview

Embark on a thrilling 3-day safari adventure in Ruaha National Park, one of Tanzania’s most spectacular and least explored wildlife reserves. Covering over 20,000 square kilometers, Ruaha is the largest national park in Tanzania, renowned for its diverse ecosystems, dramatic landscapes, and exceptional wildlife encounters. Ruaha is part of the Southern Safari Circuit, offering a more exclusive and off-the-beaten-path experience compared to the northern parks. It is home to the largest elephant population in East Africa, as well as predators like lions, leopards, cheetahs, and wild dogs. The Great Ruaha River, which flows through the park, attracts a variety of wildlife, including hippos, crocodiles, and an array of bird species. This 3-day safari is perfect for travelers seeking an authentic African wilderness experience, with exciting game drives, breathtaking scenery, and opportunities to spot the Big Five and rare species in a pristine natural environment.

Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Iringa → Ruaha National Park (Afternoon Game Drive)

Depart from Iringa in the morning for a 2.5 to 3-hour scenic drive to Ruaha National Park. Arrive at your lodge/camp in time for lunch and relaxation. Embark on an afternoon game drive, exploring Ruaha’s rugged landscapes and spotting iconic wildlife: Elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, and antelopes. Lions, leopards, and cheetahs in search of prey. Visit the Great Ruaha River, a key water source where hippos and crocodiles thrive. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive in Ruaha National Park

Start the day with an early morning game drive, when predators like lions and wild dogs are most active. Explore diverse habitats, including open savannah, woodlands, rocky outcrops, and riverbanks. Enjoy a picnic lunch in a scenic location, surrounded by nature. Continue with an afternoon game drive, searching for: Greater and lesser kudu, sable antelope, and roan antelope (Ruaha is famous for these rare species). Large herds of elephants and buffalo grazing in the open plains. Birds such as African fish eagles, lilac-breasted rollers, and yellow-billed storks. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Morning Walking Safari → Return to Iringa

Begin with a guided walking safari, an unforgettable experience that allows you to: Get up close to nature, following animal tracks and learning about the park’s ecosystem.
